Mobile camping safaris in Kenya

A camping safari staying in small, private mobile-camps, is one of the best ways to experience Kenya's natural attractions.

Get off the tourist trail and experience the real Africa !

Game drives are in 4x4 safari vehicles and accommodation in small but comfortable dome tents.

The camps are sited in private conservancies (off the main tourist routes) so that game walks and night game drives are possible.  Our sites are also located conveniently close to some of the best game-viewing areas in Kenya - Amboseli and the Masai Mara game reserves.

6 night, 7 days Mobile Camping

3 nights in Selenkay Conservancy to include a full day in Amboseli park then 3 nights in Ol Kinyei Conservancy with a full day in the Mara Reserve.

Selenkay Conservancy is in the Amboseli eco-system and Ol Kinyei Conservancy is a very exclusive wildlife reserve in the Mara eco-system, teeming with animals including over 30 lions and 8 leopards.

The mobile camp will with daily departures from Nairobi, using a minibus shuttle between Nairobi and the Selenkay camp, flying to Mara and back from Mara by road in minibus shuttle.

- Accommodation is in small 2-man dome tents. It is “real camping” and all guests need to bring their own sleeping bag as well as a towel.

- Each tent has its own flush toilet and safari shower located behind the tent.

- All meals are prepared by the camp cook. Mineral water is provided in camp and on game drives but guests need to buy their own drinks at a supermarket en route to each camp.

- The big attraction is being in small campsites in exclusive wildlife conservancies with activity packed itineraries and excellent guides and with game drives in open-sided 4x4 safari vehicles, not vans.

- This camping safari has been designed to offer the same high quality wildlife safari experience provided by the top-end safari camps, with 4x4 game viewing escorted by top class guides and in exclusive wildlife conservancies away from the tourist minibuses, but at a hugely reduced price by staying in small basic mobile camps, “real camping” instead of the luxury accommodation of the expensive up-market tented lodges.

- The Mobile Camps are sited in private conservancies with a wealth of wildlife and where you can go on walks with Maasai guides and take night drives but they are also conveniently located for easy access to Amboseli National Park and the Maasai Mara Reserve.

For those for whom the wildlife safari experience is more important than the accommodation, and who are prepared to sleep in small tents in sleeping bags on a mattress on the floor with an element of “roughing it”, this gives an opportunity for an exceptional and exclusive wildlife experience with high quality guiding but at a fraction of the price.

Note: This is “Adventure Camping” with accommodation in small 2-man dome tents and is basic camping without all the facilities of the tented lodges or luxury permanent camps. It is “real camping” and all guests who book the Mobile Adventure 4x4 Safari need to bring their own sleeping bag as well as a towel. High Density Mattresses are provided inside the dome tent. All meals are prepared by the camp cook. Mineral water is provided in camp and on game drives but guests need to buy their own drinks at a supermarket en route to each camp. The big attraction is being in small campsites in exclusive wildlife conservancies with activity-packed itineraries and excellent guides and with game drives in open-sided 4x4 safari vehicles, not vans. In our opinion these are the best value and best run camping safaris in Kenya!  Please email us for more details.
