Magnificent, newly built beach-house with 4 bedrooms located directly on the magnificent Galu Beach.
| Galu Beach Galu Beach is just south of Diani Beach but is much less commercial. Unlike Diani Beach, here there are very few tourists - its not uncommon to go for a walk on Galu and not see another sole! Being away from it all has the added advantage that you don't get hassled by beach boys. The House is about a 10-15 minute drive from the main Diani shopping centre - so shops, banks, restaurants and other amenities are within easy reach. The sea in front of the house is great for swimming - sandy bottom with no coral or sea urchins. This also means it's great for watersports - kitesurfing, windsurfing and snorkeling. The house also has a private swimming pool located between the main house and the beach. |
Facilities
The house was built in late 2004 and has been furnished to a very high standard with Swahili furniture from Lamu and Zanzibar. It's is set in lush tropical gardens with green lawns and palms trees - there's even an old Arab mosque in the bottom of the garden. The property is fully walled and very secure with its own private gate opening directly onto the beach.
The house has 4 bedrooms in all - 1 double with en-suite bathroom, 2 twin rooms sharing a large bathroom and a bunk-room for the kids. Upstairs a huge balcony offers great sea views - ideal for sundowners of just relaxing and reading a book in the Lamu day-bed.
Downstairs there's a large dining room where 12 people can eat in comfort. A large, airey lounge opens onto the veranda - this is where you'll have lunch - 8 directors chairs arranged around a table. On the other side of the veranda are comfortable Funzi beds with kikoi-covered cushions - ideal for relaxing during the heat of the day. There's also a separate WC downstairs as well as an outside shower.
The house does not have airconditioning but being so close to the beach it benefits from a sea-breeze and all rooms have fans and mosquito nets. The owners are installing a pool which will be ready in November 2005.
There is a 10 metre long private swimming pool located in the grounds. Sun beds are set around the pool for sunbathing.
Cook and Maid Service
We can arrange for a well-trained cook to look after you during your stay - he will prepare 3 meals a day to your requirements - fresh fish, exotic local fruits and vegetables - even lobster, crab and king prawns! (You will pay the chef on arrival - KSH500 per day - approx US$6-7).
A maid will make your beds and clean the rooms every day. She will also do your laundry on request. (Maid service is mandatory and paid on arrival - KSH 250 per day - just over US$3)
