Kichwa Tembo means "head of the elephant" in Kiswahili and there is certainly no shortage of elephant coming to drink at the nearby Sabaringo River.
The camp is set among the forests just below the spot where a famous scene from Out Of Africa was filmed - in fact the backdrop for the film's poster is the escarpment behind Kichwa Tembo.
Each luxurious, en-suite tent is completely private, tucked away in its own little piece of wild Africa. The tents are built of stone floors and canvas and are well spaced apart, ensuring a high degree of privacy.

Kichwa Tembo’s spacious canvas safari tents offer magical views over the Masai Mara grasslands or the Sabaringo River. The main thatched guest areas include a welcoming bar/sitting area, indoor and outdoor dining areas and a well-stocked gift shop. The palm-fringed swimming pool is perfect for laid-back game viewing whilst cooling off.
Relax in the candlelit bar in the evening before enjoying delicious Pan-African cuisine served alfresco style outdoors or in the main dining area. Private dining and exciting bush banquets may be arranged on request.
Thrilling safari activities: Explore the Masai Mara’s Big Five territory on morning and afternoon game-drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles. Hot-air balloon rides, spectacular bush breakfasts or dinners, interpretive bush walks and night game-drives make for an unforgettable safari, and may be arranged at an additional cost.
